As the founder and CEO of a rising, promising unicorn from Africa, Gabriel Eze is an interesting entrepreneur and a "design polyglot". If persistence is a person, it is embodied in his persona. An engineering graduate of Federal University of Technology Owerri in Automotive Technology, against odds, stifling environment, serial rejections and disappointments, Gabriel somehow re-invented himself as a tech figure to reckon with. After over half a decade of soul searching, research, and prolonged iteration on a single idea, he and his team of friends from the university built a product that combines business thinking and deep machine learning into what has become (arguably) Nigeria's foremost and coolest indigenous AI startup called Touchabl. About six months after launch, Touchabl have raised over $20,000 from 4 local backers; the recent and most significant investor being Genesys Tech Hub.
Launched in October 2017, Touchabl uses artificial intelligence to enable anyone search for stuffs (especially fashion items) in a picture by simply touching it. Since the core technology is based on computer vision, Touchabl is looking to diversify from fashion, lifestyle and digital magazine into education, health and agricultural technologies powered by AI.
His accolades includes: Mozilla Club Captain, Port Harcourt; Winner of StartupSouth3 pitch event (2017), Startup Weekend (2015 & 2016), Oracle Enterprise Challenge (2015), Truppr Design Challenge (2015); cofounder and former hub manager at Yelocode, cofounder of CashMadam Technologies; among others. As a UI/UX designer, he enjoys smacking pixels,; he's also a champion and supporter of #GirlsWhoCode, Node.js Africa and #DjangoGirls.
